Project Description

The proposed research will take a systems orientated approach to understand and quantify key pathways within the web of interacting factors that result in obesity. It will review the findings of previous studies that detail the well-established link between diet and exercise and an individual’s resultant BMI. I aim to investigate the complex socio-economic pathways leading to obesity. Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) and Bayesian Belief Network (BBN) frameworks will quantify the relative significance of links between environmental and socio-economic drivers in determining the relationship between the behaviour of an individual and their BMI.
