Hub Postgraduate Researchers; 20 hours maximum, £10 per hour (inc. NI)

The Small Enterprise Research Unit (SERU) wishes to recruit a number of postgraduate students to work on casual/temporary basis within its Postgraduate Hub. Preference will be given to students with background in business management, SMEs, scientific labour market and gender studies.

The Postgraduate Vocational Learning Hub (Hub) is an exciting new programme that has recently been launched at SERU. The unit wishes to employ several students for the Hub to work on several initiatives;

Firstly, a feasibility study with the aim of measuring supply and demand for thisnew programme that aims to match student expertise with demand from academic researchers for items of output. SERU has recently secured funding under the University Teaching and Learning Committee ‘Innovation Grant’ programme to identify the target segment of the Hub and measure the potential demand for such a service in the University. Successful candidates will be involved in the production of questionnaires, the building of a Hub database, advertising the service and analysing the results of the feasibility study, including the production of a final report.

Secondly, SERU would like to recruit students to work at the Hub. SERU is currently engaged in several high profile research projects, including the HigherEducation European Social Fund National project ‘SET Innovation Equality’ and the Economic and Social Research Council project ‘Impact of Gender Innovation on Regional Technology, Economy and Society’. Candidates should be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to the themes examined in these projects and should have extensive research capabilities.

Positions at the Hub are for an initial period of 20 hours, paid at a rate of £10 per hour (inc. NI contributions). Hours of work will be negotiated with SERU according to the demands of the project. Participants may be invited to work at the Hub on other projects for potentially longer periods of time if they have demonstrated a particular level of expertise.
