The Institute's Business Plan focuses on developing a better understanding of the dynamics of economies at the regional and community level in the context of the global environment and aims to add value to the sustainable prospects of these areas through research, information provision and representation. It provides strategic policy input and develops and implements initiatives for government, institutions and business as they relate to the location aspects of their operations. Key areas of interest are the facilitation in regions and communities of:

• Knowledge-enhanced economic development;
• Intra-regional and inter-regional network building;
• Leadership;
• Conflict resolution and resource negotiation;
• Capability and feasibility assessment; and
• Brokered solutions.

SCRRI will undertake regional case studies in the North Coast of New South Wales and Canberra.
