International Symposium on the Future of Universities. University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, 28-29 September 2000.

The symposium aims to reflect on the changing characteristics of a key institution within Western democracy - the multi-faculty university and poses the question: are academic institutions that emerged to service the needs of the industrial economy well placed to meet the challenge of the knowledge economy?

Although attendance at the symposium is by invitation only a list of papers and resources is available via the website. The symposium also draws on a number of Newcastle based projects, including UNIREG and the Virtual University Project.
