Mombasa Marches to Raise Awareness of Parkinson's Disease
On April 11th, the Parkinson’s community in Mombasa took to the streets to raise public awareness of Parkinson's disease (PD).
Walking from the Cathedral Catholic Church to the Technical University of Mombasa (TUM), the march called for increased awareness, and highlighted the importance of early diagnosis and community support in improving disease outcomes.
The event at TUM focused on education and awareness. In many communities, PD remains misunderstood and often incorrectly associated with witchcraft. County Health Promotion Officer Caroline Agutu delivered a message on the need to tackle this stigma and the resultant discrimination of those living with PD.
Thank you to everyone who came together to make the event such a success, and to support the work of a range of partners within the PD community!
