The Transition Programme was led by Chief Investigator (CI) Professor Allan Colver, on behalf of the sponsor Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and also Newcastle University.

In addition to the CI, the Transition Programme was led by 9 other investigators, called co-applicants. The co-applicants were jointly responsible for the research programme and were assisted by collaborators and research associates across the UK, who were undertaking the research.
Additional oversight and advice to the programme was provided by the steering group (or 'External Advisory Board') and the young people’s working group, ‘UP’.
