Writing from the stemistry lab
In vitro
by Stevie Ronnie
Arctic days yield to laboratory spring
under the microscope his inky body
squiggles back to life. It is hot
and closed then all he knows
rushes syringewards like
the tide can fill a cove.
Inside, she’s saline and scented
like a heavy garden
where he and she no longer are
but he or she or it is born.
