Dr Mihail Mitrea

His research interests lie in the fields of Byzantine literature, hagiography, epistolography, theology, Greek palaeography, and Byzantine manuscript studies.

He previously held a teaching fellowship in Byzantine studies at the University of Edinburgh (2017), and a junior fellowship in Byzantine studies at Harvard’s Dumbarton Oaks Research Library and Collection (2016–2017). He received his PhD from the University of Edinburgh in 2018 with a thesis on the five saints’ lives composed by Philotheos Kokkinos (ca. 1300–1378) for his contemporaries.
