Dr Paul Cowie

Paul Cowie is the Faculty Research Fellow and is a member of the Centre for Rural Economy. Paul’s main research interests are in rural innovation and the impact the 4th industrial revolution will have on rural communities and the rural economy. Paul sits on the Department for Transport’s Oversight Group for research into Connected and Autonomous Vehicles and is an Academic Associate with eh Future Cities Catapult. His other research focuses on public engagement in policy making. This research uses theatre as a way of engaging communities in complex socio-economic decisions and in 2015 won the RTPI’s Planning Excellence Award for public engagement.  Prior to taking up a career in academia, Paul practiced as a commercial lawyer specialising in large scale regeneration projects.
