Research Buddies is a long-term, mutually-beneficial research-based partnership between Newcastle University and local schools to enable research projects with children, to promote engagement with research among school teachers, parents and children, and ultimately to cultivate a love of scientific discovery in young co-collaborators in the North East.
Within this partnership:
- Local schools receive information about ongoing research studies at NU and opportunities for children to participate
- NU researchers offer to run, for example, workshops for children / teachers / parents, or mini-talks about their discoveries
- Teachers / parents / children may be offered access to various events organised by NU staff
- Opportunities for Knowledge Transfer Partnerships or for developing Research Schools
