Enhanced Upper Limb Therapy

Enhanced upper limb therapy is a therapy programme designed to exercise the arm, wrist and hand. Working with a therapist, patients will be asked to choose rehabilitation goals involving their arm or hand. For example, a goal about putting on a jumper or a goal about picking up a cup. Patients will chose goals which are important to them. The chosen goals will be then be used to select activities to practise during a therapy session.

Patients randomised to the enhanced upper limb therapy programme will be invited to attend therapy sessions 3 times per week for 12 weeks. Appointments will last approximately one hour. For people who are not currently inpatients, a taxi or travel costs to attend appointments can be provided.
