Postcolonial Pedagogy and the Task of Decolonisation

Zoom: https://newcastleuniversity.zoom.us/j/83328743475

Please note that the later start time is to accommodate Professor Quayson’s time zone (California).

Decolonization and Diversity have by now become buzzwords in university circles. This event examines the intersections between recent debates on decolonizing the curriculum and the teaching of postcolonial studies, which has long been asking students to think critically about the racial and colonial assumptions structuring  academic programmes in literature and culture. The event will feature a conversation between Professor Ato Quayson, Jean G. And Morris M. Doyle Professor in Interdisciplinary Studies at Stanford University, and Professor Stephanie Newell, Professor of English at Yale University, and currently Leverhulme Visiting Professor in the School of English at Newcastle.

All are welcome.
