A Level Law - Mock Trials
Bringing the courtroom to the classroom
A collaboration between Newcastle University Law School and Hartlepool Sixth Form College, this project saw A Level Law students working with a Lecturer from the Law School over an eight week period. They examined an authentic criminal case, and looked at the different roles required in a working courtroom. The students were divided into the prosecution and the defence, and developed their cases. As a showcase, the students were planning to visit the Newcastle University Law School for a tour of the law library there and the main event, a Mock Trial, with invited law professionals taking on additional roles. Unfortunately this was scheduled for the week when the university closed due to the global pandemic and could not take place.
