Objectives
Can we help you develop your curriculum?
- Are you interested in developing deep subject knowledge and cultural capital to help students succeed in later life (draft Ofsted framework)?
- Do you want to enable pupils to discover their interests, talents, confidence and independence (draft Ofsted framework)?
- Do you need to start working with the Gatsby benchmarks?
- Do you need to get your students more engaged and motivated?
Newcastle University can help you!
The Research Centre for Learning and Teaching has funding from the Edge Foundation to enable us to develop curriculum projects with schools that involve free CPD and support as well as the use of university resources including staff, students, cutting edge research and specialist facilities. Where possible we will involve employers or other local experts in the project and we will also draw on the support of our partners: The Great North Museum, the NE Local Enterprise Partnership and OpenLab.
Curriculum projects
We are interested in developing projects that have a range of starting points and take place over different timeframes e.g. taught in normal lessons or in a block periods. Some may have National Curriculum subject content as the primary focus, whereas others may relate to much broader themes e.g. Global Challenges or hot local/national issues. All projects will involve ‘going places, meeting people and doing/making things’ and all will involve creating a final product for an audience, thus developing a variety of employability skills: oracy, teamwork, working to a deadline etc.
