Newcastle General Hospital (NGH) Community History Project

For many years Newcastle General Hospital (NGH) was the main hospital for Newcastle upon Tyne and has great significance in the lives of many local people. Newcastle University bought the site in 2019 and plans to develop the UK's first Health Innovation Neighbourhood (HIN).

Northern Cultural Projects and the HIN team have developed a small pilot project, to stimulate conversations about the future use of the site. The initial six-month phase will include a series of walks and talks, and a community history project with retired NGH nurses who will record oral histories of their former colleagues.
