Foodbanks play a far greater role in our society than simply providing food for people in need. Join Dr Alison Atkinson-Philips, Lecturer in Public History at Newcastle University, as she explores the real-life stories of people accessing the Newcastle West End Foodbank, the myths regarding food poverty and how foodbanks go beyond the provision of food.
This event will be introduced and hosted by Newcastle University's Dean of Advancement, Professor Anya Hurlbert. Dr Atkinson-Philips will be joined by experts in the field of food poverty from Newcastle’s alumni and supporter community.
