Do you remember when you read when you were younger?

We went on a long holiday when I was nine and I made a mistake of only taking one book with me, so I was a bit struggling – I remember that – struggling because I hadn’t got anything else to read, you know. [laughter] Because we were abroad and we couldn’t … I think we got [sic] the English newspaper at the station was about all you could get to read. I do remember my mother saying I would probably read the telephone directory if there was nothing else around, so she obviously thought I was a keen reader at the time.
