Do you ever read aloud today?
I did go to the Read Aloud group that they have/had [?] at the library here as well, for a couple of years. And I did enjoy doing that. And I must admit, the reader organisation idea quite sort of appeals. Because I think what was interesting when we read aloud was, again, you don’t miss anything, because you’re reading every sentence and then stopping and everybody contributing. That shared discussion. But I think it’s very immediate; peoples’ responses are very immediate in a way that they aren’t when you’ve just read a book and you come to discuss it with people, because you’ve filtered it a little bit and, you know, you’ve thought through your key points, as it were, of things that you think about. Whereas your immediate response, and the thoughts it sparks off in people, is quite interesting really. Yes. […] And again, if we’re in this book group class that I go to, we do read passages out, and take it in turns to read passages.
