The regulation of the cell division cycle and cellular responses to reactive oxygen species

Research in my lab focuses on understanding the regulatory mechanisms such as checkpoints that underly cell cycle progression. We also seek to understand how cells sense and respond to different types and levels of reactive oxygen species. Recent work has focused on the function and regulation of ubiquitin and ubiquitin-like modifications such as SUMO in these processes. We use the evolutionarily divergent yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Schizosaccharomyces pombe as model systems to understand these conserved eukaryotic processes.
