Blocking Polyphosphate Mobilization Inhibits Pho4 Activation and Virulence in the Pathogen Candida albicans

Polyphosphate is an enigmatic molecule which until recently was only thought to function as a phosphate storage molecule. A new paper from the Quinn lab to be published in mBio explores the role of the polyphosphate mobilization in PHO pathway activation, virulence, and the response to stresses in the opportunistic human fungal pathogen Candida albicans.
