Faraday Institution Project

The Director of NECEM, Professor Ulrich Stimming, has been awarded a £1.5 million Faraday project on battery degradation. The project is entitled “Towards a Comprehensive Understanding of Degradation Processes in EV Batteries” and will be performed by a consortium led by Clare Grey, the University of Cambridge, Newcastle University, University College London, the University of Glasgow, and several other partners. The fast-start project is part of the Faraday Institution, of which Newcastle University is a founding member. The part being undertaken at Newcastle University will be led by Professor Ulrich Stimming, with partners in Electrical Engineering (Professor Volker Pickert), Mechanical Engineering (Professor Peter Cumpson), and Chemical Engineering (Dr Mohamed Mamlouk).
