  • Group Lead, responsible for supervising multiple research staff and students. Mo has a long standing interest in geomechanical and fluid flow processes in soils and rocks.

Prof Rouainia's expertise encompasses the following areas: (i) the development of multi-surface plasticity models for soils and rocks and routine use in practical applications; (ii) the implementation of robust numerical integration schemes for advanced constitutive relations; (iii) analyis and uncertainty quantification of the long term cyclic performance of offshore foundations and feasibility of novel foundation solutions; (iv) multiscale geomechanical characterisation of shales for subsurface energy applications; and (v) fluid  flow processes in unsaturated geomaterials.
