Micromechanical modelling of calcareous mudstones
We have recently published a new article in the International Journal of Rock Mechanics and Mining Sciences. The paper is part of Sam Graham's PhD research and presents a new micromechanical modelling framework for calcareous mudstones. Calcareous mudstones are common but have received little attention so far despite often having very different microstructures compared to their argillaceous counterparts, which can be important when predicting their geomechanical properties. The model is developed and calibrated using the results of nanoindentation testing on samples of the Eagle Ford formation.
