- Project Title: Development of high-throughput MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry assays for drug discovery, in collaboration with Boehringer Ingelheim.
Co-supervisors: Dr Maria Duenas and Dr Frank Buttner, (Boehringer Ingelheim)
Institution: Newcastle University
Project Summary: I joined the Trost Lab as a MoSMed (EPSRC CDT) PhD student in September 2019 and I will be studying high-throughput MALDI-TOF metabolite screening assays for drug discovery in human disease in collaboration with Boehringer-Ingelheim. Prior to joining the lab I completed an MSci (Hons) in Biochemistry with professional placement at the University of Birmingham where I worked on a global proteomics approach identifying substrates of Leucocyte common-antigen related phosphatase (LAR). During my placement I worked for The Binding Site developing specialist diagnostic assays for immune system disorders.
Interesting Fact: Prior to starting my PhD I was an Honorary Midshipmen in Birmingham University Royal Naval Unit and deployed with the Royal Navy around Europe.
