Dr Celine Cano

Celine is a Reader in Medicinal Chemistry. She was recruited as a Lecturer at Newcastle University in 2008. Prior to this appointment, Celine was a CRUK Research Fellow at the Northern Institute for Cancer Research (2006-2008) and a BBSRC research associate at the University of Manchester (2004-2005).

Celine was awarded the Elsevier Reaxys 2016 Prize for Medicinal Chemistry in recognition of her research into anticancer drug discovery. She is also the academic lead for the Medicinal Chemistry and Chemical Biology Group within the School of Natural and Environmental Sciences. Celine co-led the CRUK Doctoral Training Programme in Medicinal Chemistry (2006-14) and has supervised over 50 PhD students in her academic career to date. She is also a fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry.

Celine is a member of the MoSMed CDT Executive Committee and leads the teaching and training programme.
