Chemical Probes Hackathon

We are working with the Chemical Probes Portal to run the eleventh Probe Hackathon – a day-long event to find the best and worst chemical probes, particularly protein inhibitors.
The Chemical Probes Portal (http://www.chemicalprobes.org) is an online community resource committed to increasing the quality and reproducibility of research that relies on chemical probes through community curation. The Portal is further described in the Nucleic Acid Research article The Chemical Probes Portal: an expert review-based public resource to empower chemical probe assessment, selection and use with an update in The Chemical Probes Portal – 2024: update on this public resource to support best-practice selection and use of small molecules in biomedical research
During the Probe Hackathon, the criteria which make a compound a good chemical probe will be explained, and you will work together to evaluate a number of compounds for their suitability. A number of academics from the CDT and elsewhere will be on hand to support the event.
The Hackathon will be of particular interest to students and staff from Chemistry, Chemical Biology, Biochemistry and other related disciplines at PhD or postdoctoral level. This event will also be open to those outside the CDT.

Places are limited, and we will be operating on a first come, first served basis, so make sure to sign up soon if you want to take part. If you sign up after we have gone beyond the capacity for the event we will let you know.
Lunch and refreshments will be provided. You will need to bring your laptop to this event.
