Resurfacing Prostheses Found to Have Higher than Anticipated Revision Rate

Based on the 2013 National Joint Replacement Registry annual report (Australian Orthopaedic Association) the Cormet cemented resurfacing head and the Cormet HAP Bi-coated (cementless resurfacing), along with Cormet 2000 HAP (no longer used), have been reported to have a significantly higher rate of revision- both individually and combined- when compared to all resurfacing prostheses. The main reasons for revisions are: loosening/lysis, fractures, and metal related pathology respectively.  Read more here.
