A review of 230 Birmingham Hip Resurfacings (BHR) found a survival rate of 94.5% at a mean follow up of ten years. The paper reports that failures were 1.4 times more likely in women than in men, with men also having better function. As a result of the study the authors say that they are reluctant to use the Birmingham Hip Resurfacing in women. Article abstract available from here.
