Throughout 2012 there has been a increase in the awareness of the side effects of metal-on-metal hip replacements.
This cumulated in the British hip society calling for a halt in using large head metal-on-metal and a Commons Select Committee meeting in the House of Commons to discuss the future for medical device regulation.
Tom Joyce and Pauline McCormack will present the latest information from the research community including the latest data from the National joint registry, set up to record the long term performance of joint replacement. Further presentations will focus on the information gathered by Pauline through patient focus groups looking at systemic failures surrounding metal-on-metal hips.
The session will also allow people to meet and discuss with others who have suffered with metal-on-metal hip replacements.
