Walking, Looking and Telling Tales launched at Cherryburn
Despite some summer rain, we had an enthusiastic turn out for the opening of Mark Fairnington’s new installation at Cherryburn on 2 June.
The installation, in the half parlour in Bewick’s birthplace cottage, features eighteen miniature landscape paintings, illustrating scenes from a series of walks taken by Mark around Cherryburn and Northumberland over the last year. The new paintings, inspired by Thomas Bewick’s own artwork and wanderings, offer a contemporary viewpoint on Bewick’s countryside.
Walking, Looking and Telling Tales is on until 4 November. Please check the Cherryburn website for details of opening times.
