Announcing our Conference Keynote Speakers

With the MCAHE conference set to take place on the 29 & 30 July 2019, we are very pleased to announce our three distinguished keynote speakers. 
 
John Orna-Ornstein, our first keynote, will be kicking off the first day of the conference addressing the day’s theme of ‘Creation’. John is Director of Culture and Engagement at the National Trust, leading the organisation’s care for, and programming of, its historic places. He was formerly director of museums for Arts Council England and head of London and national programmes for the British Museum.
 
Jenny Waldman will be addressing the theme of ‘Encounters’ on the second day of the conference. Jenny is Director of 14-18 NOW, WWI Centenary Art Commissions; a programme of new art commissions which has reached over 35 million people during the First World War centenary. She was previously Creative Producer of the London 2012 Festival for the Olympic and Paralympic Games and creator of the outdoor programme at Somerset House.
 
Laurajane Smith will deliver the closing keynote of the conference. Laurajane is Director of the Centre of Heritage and Museum Studies at the Australian National University. She is a Fellow of the Academy of the Social Science in Australia and founder of the Association of Critical Heritage Studies, as well as editor of the International Journal of Heritage Studies and co-general editor of Key Issues in Cultural Heritage.
