The Peace Committee organised a ‘Peace Fair’ to celebrate the work of peacemakers in the North East of England. 14 groups each ran a stall detailing their work and inviting members of the public to get involved. Hosted in the sumptuous surroundings of Northumbria University’s Great Hall, a buffet meal was enjoyed. Inspirational music was provided by The North East Socialist Singers and local singer-songwriter Bethany Coyle, and Kate Hudson, General Secretary of CND, gave a public lecture on the history of the peace movement in the UK.
