Homework

After each therapy session a homework booklet will be given to you, the parent/carer.

You don’t need to demand any spoken sentences from your child.

How the homework should be carried out:

  • You should say something like “Let’s have a look at some picture together!”

  • Then, point to each picture one by one, leaving a short pause in case the child wants to describe the picture. If the child doesn’t say anything, then describe what is happening in the picture

  • You should not ask the child to repeat the spoken sentences after you, but they can if they want to

  • You should praise any and all attempts (eg. Single words) the child offers, but then say the full spoken sentence so that your child hears the correct version.

  • Children will learn from hearing these sentences repeated again and again, so don’t worry if it seems a bit repetitive.

The homework shouldn’t be taking more than 10 minutes. If your child loses interest, you can always attempt the homework the next day.

If you're interested in what the booklets look like, you can access them from the materials section!
