Lana McCarthy is a family literacy teacher currently leading the Family & Community Strand of Youngballymun’s complex community change initiative. Lana is studying for a PhD with Trinity College Dublin with a scholarship from the Irish Research Council Employment based Postgraduate programme. She is researching the multiple perspectives of parents and practitioners on parental engagement strategies employed in family literacy programmes in an area of socio-economic disadvantage.
