Visualising Airspaces is the website of the Leverhulme Artist-in-Residence award held by Dr Matthew Flintham, in conjunction with Dr Alison Williams and the School of Geography, Politics and Sociology Newcastle University. This project runs for twelve months from October 2013 and focuses on creating art works that relate to research conducted by both Matthew and Alison on the militarization of UK airspaces.
The residency provides Matthew with time and opportunities to visit a number of active military sites in the UK to explore the relationships between landscapes and the active military airspaces above. This work will culminate in an exhibition of work to be held in Newcastle in Autumn 2014. This website will be updated periodically to include work from this residency as it is produced.
