Dr Stephen Blenkinsop attended the annual conference of the European Meteorological Society in Dublin this September. The conference theme was 'Serving Society with better Weather and Climate Information', focussing on how best to harness the wealth of data now available – both observational and modelled – to generate and communicate information, ensuring the highest quality support to users' decision-making. The conference was attended by 814 participants from 46 countries.
Stephen presented an update on the progress being made in INTENSE, including data collection, analysis of trends and variability in UK hourly extremes and the latest results examining the role of warming in driving changes in hourly extremes.
