Mala Maini
Mala is the immunology theme co-lead for the CRUK Accelerator Hunter award. Her laboratory studies immunity to hepatitis B, liver cancer and SARS-CoV-2 to inform the development of immunotherapies and vaccines for these major worldwide causes of morbidity and mortality. Her group's work focuses on using human liver samples to understand how viruses and cancers hide away from the immune attack in this niche. This research is allowing us to develop new immunotherapies for hepatitis B and hepatocellular carcinoma, targeting cellular cross-talk and metabolic pathways.
