Fashion nd Beauty

Beth

bethI challenged myself to make my own “Make Do and Mend” dress. I was inspired by the women of World War Two who continued to dress stylishly, despite the rationing of fabric. I began by selecting a plain black modern dress. In the first “make do” week I layered the dress with other garments and accessories to make a different look for each day. In the second week I decided to “mend” the dress, using contemporary patterns and photographs to guide the alterations and additions that I made. Find out what object from the exhibition inspired this challenge!

Evgenia and Chenqu

evgeniachenquWe decided to work together and replace some of our cosmetics with natural ones we made using products from our fridge. In this way we created products which were healthier for our skin, preparing them ourselves in only a few minutes and saving money. After using the natural cosmetics our skin felt healthier and lighter. We felt really confident about the procedure, since it was something we had done ourselves with natural products in very little time. We’ll definitely continue making natural cosmetics in the future! In this way we’ll treat ourselves with healthy products and save money!
