Born in Merseyside, Claire Potter is an artist writer who works across performance, publication, installation and film. Influenced by linguistics and performance theory, Potter's work addresses received definitions of reading, writing, and speaking, to reconsider what it is to 'articulate'. Their practice is thematically centred on the temporalities of traumatic experience, taking gender, and regional and class inflected social violences as its subjects. Recent works have been commissioned by, or presented at: ChelseaSPACE, London; A+A gallery, Venice; Wysing Arts Centre, Cambridge; CCA Derry-Londonderry; Tate Learning, London; and Lydgalleriet, Bergen.
Claire Potter lectures in Fine Art at Liverpool John Moores University.
