Lucy Clout’s work originated in (and returns often to) performance and the experience of viewing performance. Though it might take the form of sculpture, video, sound work, drawing or a hybrid of those things it doesn’t forget the lessons learned/roles enacted in the often uncomfortable social space between performer and audience. Her work utilises humour and ineloquence and enjoys a pleasurable and loose relationships with language, using excessive titles such as “3 (buh buh buh) proposal for a collating machine” (2008) and “manual non manual manual” (2010) .
She has exhibited in the Art Now space at Tate Britain, CAG Vancouver, Transmission Gallery Glasgow and IPS Bournville. She was a participant on the LUX associate artist program 2010 and completed a solo video show at Limoncello Gallery, London in March.
