My curatorial interests are very varied, focusing on themes which are generally quite tangible and are often based in aspects of popular or everyday culture. I am also a practising artist and publish two magazines - Arty and Garageland. Drawing all the strands of my practice together may mean that I make work for projects that I am curating and accompany them with a publication.
I enjoying mixing together unexpected combinations of artists, combining practitioners from different strands of the arts and with varying degrees of experience. This adds surprise elements into the show, generating new meanings and forging new connections. I generally avoid traditional 'white cube' style hangs as I prefer projects to relate to the environment that they are being shown in. O Dreamland in Aug 2007 took place in a thirties house on the Kent coast and E8, a show about the E8 postcode in London, was held at Transition Gallery which is of course in E8. I am currently the director of Transition Gallery in east London and this is where most of my curatorial work takes place .
