‘My work is multi-faceted, spanning sculpture, photography, performance and painting, and it is often through the use of simple, ephemeral, and found materials that it takes form. Most recently I have been making work with silk scarves and tissue papers, gouache and pencil crayons, and the little bits of cardboard that are found inside a new pair of tights.

I draw inspiration from my everyday life - be it my experiences or observations at work, on the bus, or at a cinema or gallery. I take pleasure from looking at magazines and browsing displays in shops, and in turn use that which I see and dream about to inform my work. I can’t help but notice how people dress and behave, how they decorate themselves, and the materials and objects that are used to do this. The styling, display and arrangement of objects within fashion, art, and interiors is also an ongoing interest, in particular the point at which the casual and formal meet and crossover - the choreographed and the incidental. I think this could be termed Sprezzatura.

I am interested in making images and objects that are both decorative and conceptual. I take my work seriously, yet I approach it with a lyricism and lightness of touch. I take enjoyment from, yet am analytical of, the stuff of life.’
