Vanessa Jackson is an Abstract Painter concerned with optical and illusionistic process.
“If painting can hold the distillation of experience, it is as a catalyst for perceptions between the eye and the mind. A place for the spatial dynamics of perception to exist beyond the usual readings of representation. I make use of the ambiguity of thinly painted space in contrast to the opaque carved form of geometry, to reinforce the sense of actual existence through the use of optical and illusionistic processes. Colour as light, alluding to both perpetual motion and concrete reality.”
