Mathieu Copeland

Mathieu Copeland was born in 1977 in Lagny sur Marne, France, and lives in London. A graduate from Newcastle University (BA Fine Art 2002) & Goldsmith College, London, in 2003, he develops a practice that subverts the traditional role of exhibitions and that renews our perceptions of these.
Past exhibitions includes « Expart-Art Centre / EAC » (2004-2006). In 2006 he curates « Soundtrack for an Exhibition » at the Musée d’Art Contemporain in Lyon, and initiates the touring exhibition « A Spoken Word Exhibition » currently at BALTIC until the 14th of March 2009. In 2008 he curated « A Choreographed Exhibition » at the Kunsthalle in St Gallen & La Ferme du Buisson. He publishes in 2003 « Perfect Magazine », and edits & publishes a collection of artist’s films on DVD. Forthcoming exhibition include VOIDS, A Retrospective at the Centre Pompidou, Paris, February March 2009.
