Objectives

The overall aim of the project is to demonstrate the feasibility of FD in UAC. This aim will be accomplished by
achieving a number of novel objectives, which are

  • To design a transformational FD-enabled UAC system that achieves almost double the throughput of equivalent HD systems under the same power and bandwidth constraints.
  • To develop a comprehensive understanding and models of SI for acoustic waveforms, hardware impairments and local reverberations at the transceiver.
  • To create a frequency-scaled channel model required for simulation of FD effects.
  • To study and develop radically new adaptive SIC methods that enable FD operation.
  • To investigate FD-based single and multi-hop relaying and MAC protocol designs.
  • To validate experimentally the complete system using sea trials and deliver a demonstrator with the guidance of ATLAS ELEKTRONIK UK.
