Margareta Ekborg is professor in science education. He has a master degree in Biology and has worked as a teacher in Biology, Chemistry and integrated science in secondary school and in the same subjects as well as education in teacher education before doing her PhD in science education.
Her thesis was about student teachers’ learning in science with relevance for teaching for sustainable development. Later research has concerned socio-scientific issues.
Margareta has worked with producing material for formative assessment for primary school. The material (DINO) is published on the website of The Swedish National Agency for Education.
Margareta is project leader for a group of researchers and teachers who construct national tests in Biology, Chemistry and Physics for school year 6. She is also project leader for a group that constructs material to be used to assess newcomer students´ knowledge in science.
