I am a Research Assistant in Mathematics Education at the Department of Philosophy and Education, University of Torino, Italy.
After graduating in Mathematics, I obtained a PhD in Mathematics Education in 2007 with a dissertation titled “Body and Signs: A Multimodal Semiotic Approach to Teaching-Learning Processes in Early Calculus” (supervision by prof. F. Arzarello and prof. L. Radford).
In 2006-2007 I participated in the European Project “Representing Mathematics with Digital Media” (ReMath, n. IST4-26751, 2007-2009), with a post-doc position.
My research interests include: the analysis of teaching-learning processes with semiotic lens and related educational implications; empirical studies and theoretical reflection on networking theories strategies in mathematics education; the role of technology in learning mathematics; teachers’ and future teachers’ attitudes and emotions towards mathematics.
Since February 2013 I’m Board Member of ERME (European Society for Research in Mathematics Education), and since July 2013 I’m member of CIEAEM, Commission for the Study and Improvement of Mathematics Teaching.
This will be my first time as a co-ordinator of a local team in a European Project, and I will do all my best in this new enterprise, with the collaboration of all of you…thank you in advance!
