Justin Dillon is professor of science and environmental education and Head of the Science and Technology Education Group at King’s College London. After taking a degree in chemistry, he trained as a teacher and taught in six London schools, joining King’s in 1989. Justin’s research involves aspects of learning and engagement in and out of schools. Together with two colleagues, he coordinates the ESRC’s Targeted Initiative on Science and Mathematics Education.
Justin has worked on a number of EU projects including PENCIL, INQUIRE, FEAST, IRIS and ASSISTME. He was on the Scientific Committee of the Fibonacci project. Justin is co-editor of the International Journal of Science Education and was elected President of the European Science Education Research Association from 2007-11.
He is the editor of a number of books including Bad Education (Open University Press, 2012) and the International Handbook of Research on Environmental Education (Routledge, 2013). Justin is a trustee of the Council for Learning Outside the Classroom and of the London Wildlife Trust.
