Professor Nick Wrightjoined Newcastle University in 1994, and is a leading expert in semiconductor devices. From 2003-8, he led the Silicon Carbide (SiC) Platform Grant at Newcastle which established novel technologies for SiC. SiC is an alternative material to traditional silicon based power modules offering ultra-high efficiencies.  He has led a number of EPSRC and InnovateUK grants on SiC technology and was the joint Chairman, with Prof Johnson, of the 2006 edition of the European Conference on Silicon Carbide and Related Materials.
