Professor Barrie Mecrow was head of Newcastle University’s School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering from 2012-17. He advises Rolls-Royce on electrical machines and leads a longstanding research collaboration with Dyson. He leads the skills and training element of the EPSRC Power Electronics Centre, has a long history of industrial engagement and has 200 peer-reviewed technical articles.
